Join the community in celebrating more than two decades of delicious and artistic fun at the Women’s Studio Workshop’s 21st Annual Chili Bowl Fiesta, 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, with early admission 2-4 p.m., at SUNY Ulster Dining Hall, 491 Cottekill Road, Stone Ridge. More than 20 local restaurants and chefs donate 50-plus gallons of chili, satisfying meat-lovers, vegans, and vegetarians alike. Guests can also buy a paper bowl, and bottomless bellies can purchase additional servings. Nearly 1,000 handmade bowls, mugs, and tumblers are created throughout the year by staff, interns, resident artists, students and local potters. Because so many hands contribute to this process, each vessel is one-of-a-kind, and widely varied in shape, size, color, surface design, and, of course, price-point ($10-$100). Guests always have a blast looking for the perfect pieces while listening to live, local music by a terrific local band, In the Kitchen. “This project is about way more than just making a whole bunch of bowls,” said ceramics studio manager Ruth McKinney Burket, “It’s about bringing people together. I think that’s a part of who we are as Women’s Studio Workshop, as a community.” Early-bird admission, 2-4 p.m., to the chili fest is $5; admission is free, 4-7 p.m. For more information, call 658-9133 or visit wsworkshop.org.
