UlsterCorps' 9th Annual Service Summit will bring together community leaders from the nonprofit, business, higher education and governmental sectors to address strategies and new media tools for expanding outreach, broadening the volunteer pool and developing an inclusive service environment. The event, co-sponsored by the Benjamin Center at SUNY New Paltz, will be held 8:30-noon Wednesday, April 25, at The Terrace at SUNY New Paltz, 1 Hawk Drive, New Paltz. Featured speakers include: Accord’s Grace Bonney, Design*Sponge; Mariel Fiori, La Voz magazine and La Voz at Radio Kingston; Kristina Labaty, Camphill Village USA, and John Oles, SUNY New Paltz. The group will discuss: strategies and tools to communicate the non-profit affiliation more effectively, expansion of audience through social media and other outreach platforms, engaging volunteers with special needs and strategies for access and accommodations, tools and best practices for recruiting and supporting underrepresented populations, engaging volunteers of all ages and from diverse backgrounds more effectively, volunteerism as a force for inclusion, bringing communities together, and bridging barriers. The Summit will also feature roundtable discussions, in English and Spanish, giving all attendees an opportunity to participate and network. La Voz at Radio Kingston will be broadcasting the Summit live from 10 a.m.-noon.  The Summit, which is free to participants, is part of the ongoing work of UlsterCorps to deepen the knowledge about volunteerism and to find ways to strengthen a culture of service and collaboration in Ulster County. A locally sourced, healthy breakfast is available to all participants.
Registration is free but required and limited to the first 70 respondents. Register by emailing register@ulstercorps.org or by phone 845-481-0331.
