The Rosendale Theatre and Ann Citron, Theatre Arts Director, announce auditions for Dorothy Marcic’s Off-Broadway hit, “Respect, this one’s for the girls, a musical revue,” 7-10 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, Jan. 20 and 21, at the Rosendale Theatre, 408 Main St., Rosendale.

From co-dependent to independent, from “Someone to Watch Over Me” to “I will Survive,” Directed by Ovi Vargas and choreographed by Liz Piccoli with music direction by Lee Stowe, “Respect” is the journey of women’s independence, told through Top 40 music. Performances will be held at the Rosendale Theatre and the Phoenicia Playhouse.

The show will rehearse and open at the Rosendale Theatre, Thursday, March 27; run Friday-Sunday; and close Sunday, March 30 with two shows on Saturday, March 29 (five performances). Performances will then transfer to the Phoenicia Playhouse, 10 Church St., Phoenicia, opening, Friday April 4, and play the first two weekends of April, closing on Sunday, April 13, (six performances). There is a possibility that one more performance will be added.

Rehearsals will begin early February.

Auditions will be for four very strong female singers plus one understudy. Applicants must be able to move well and act. Performers must commit to both tech week and all 11 performances.

There is a $1,000 performance fee per performer at the end of the run. Those trying out must come prepared with a pop song, bring sheet music, and sing something that shows off specific talents. A second song may be requested. For more information, email Citron at ann@rosendaletheatre.org.
