Set against the majestic Hudson Valley landscapes of their childhood, Bird Sanctuary unfolds as an epic coming-of-age tale exploring grief, addiction, and the passage of time. Made by a small group of New Paltz natives, the film was shot over several years. As the filmmakers grew, so did their characters — their wounds, struggles, and self-discovery woven into the fabric of the movie.
