Brian Farmer, co-founder of The Cannabis Conservancy, presents “Hemp and Cannabis in the U.S., an ongoing saga and personal report from the frontline.” The presentation will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11 (snow date on Dec. 12), at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Ulster County’s annual meeting, at CCEUC, 232 Plaza Road (Hannaford Plaza), Kingston. The meeting is free and open to the public, light refreshments will be served, and RSVP is requested. The Cannabis Conservancy is a third-party standards developer and certifier for the sustainable production of cannabis. Since 2016, TCC has been certifying growers in the U.S. and more recently in Canada. TCC also works internationally in partnership with Control Union (a Netherlands-based certification body). In addition to launching TCC, Farmer has spent the last decade as an integrated pest management consultant and agricultural auditor assessing farms, packing houses and greenhouses to international Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) standards. Brian has worked with Global GAP for certification bodies, SCS Global Services, Food-Chain ID, Det Norske Veritas, and National Britannia. Locally, he is a small-scale organic grower and co-owner, with his wife, Tara, of the Rail Trail Cafe in Rosendale. Farmer also serves as a board member for the Rondout Valley Growers Association. At CCEUC’s annual meeting, the election of new board members will be held and a vote on the association’s updated constitution, plus highlights of 2019’s programs.
