Posted

Presented by Carol Garboden Murray and Karen Pillsworth, celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Rosendale Library and sponsored by the Friends of the Rosendale Library, join the community for an interesting and interactive evening, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, at the Rosendale Library, 264 Main St., Rosendale. Murray and Pillsworth will orchestrate a discussion on how to encourage a child’s oral language skills, an essential foundation needed for reading, through conversations, telling family stories, and reading aloud; choosing high quality children’s literature; the importance of rhyme, repetition and word play; how to interpret scribbles and the stages of writing and how to spark a love of reading and writing. Murray is the director of the nursery school at Bard College, author of “Simple Signing With Young Children,” and parent to two sons. Pillsworth is a professional storyteller and retired kindergarten teacher.
