Master gardeners highlight the perennial plant in ‘Learning in the Garden’ workshop

The Perennial Plant Association chooses a plant every year to be the Perennial Plant of the Year. Awards have been given out since 1990. Join Ulster County master gardener Diane Backus, 10-10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 20, at the award-winning Xeriscape Garden, at the SUNY Ulster Campus, 491 Cottekill Road, Stone Ridge, rain or shine, to find out how they are chosen and why they make great plants for the garden. These free gardening classes are held the Xeriscape Garden on the third Saturday of each month, May through October. Upcoming workshops include: Tour the Xeriscape Garden with Nordica Holochuck, Aug. 17; Annual Master Gardener Plant Sale, Sept. 21, and Native Plants with Cecily Frazier on Oct. 19.
