Marbletown loves its parade

The Town of Marbletown American Legion Post 1512 had its annual Marbletown Parade and Memorial Service this past Monday, Memorial Day, May 28. The parade started at Marbletown Elementary School to Route 209 and ended at the Marbletown Community Center, 3564 Main St. (across from Key Bank), Stone Ridge, where the Memorial Service was held. Pictured here is Gene “Oscar” Keogen waving to the parade crowd. It was his 88th birthday, this past Memorial Day. The Rondout Valley Concert Band played George M. Cohan’s spirited march, “You’re a Grand Old Flag” as they followed behind the Color Guard.

“Gene’s smile captures the feeling of the day’s festivities. Those parades go by in the blink of an eye,” said Lynn Gilbert, who took the parade photos.
