Summer!

Rosendale Recreation Center pool opening

Posted

“We could not prep the pool to begin a painting project,” said Tara Burke, recreation director. “The weather must be at least 80 degrees for consecutive days, with no rain in the forecast, in order to properly apply and dry paint to the pool.” The painting project finally began the week of June 5. “Between the prepping, the painting and drying, the painting project is expected to take about a week or so to complete. Then we will take another week to fill the pool with water [and] balance the chemicals. We are hoping for a pool opening in the end of June [but] we do not have an exact date yet,” said Burke. The pool opening will be announced on the Rosendale Pool Facebook page. It will also be posted on the marquee in front of the Recreation Center.

Swimming lessons are again available to the community throughout July and August, with morning and evening hours. Each session includes eight 30-minute lessons over a two-week period. Lessons are held Monday through Thursday, with Friday as a makeup day for inclement weather

Each swim lesson session has a limited number of slots available. Lessons for levels 1, 2 and 3 will be offered this summer. Parent and Me clinics will also be offered throughout the summer. Swimmers looking for more advanced lessons are encouraged to join the Rosendale Rapids Swim Team (www.rosendalerapids.com). Passes will be available at the pool during regular hours or at the Recreation Center. Proof of residency is required. Application forms are available at the pool or the Recreation Center. Open swim hours are noon-7:30 p.m. most of the summer. The pool closes on the dates of swim team meets.

People may call the Recreation Department at 658-8198 or email rosendalerecreation@gmail.com to register their children for swimming lessons. Please call or email to reserve and confirm that a space is available for your child before sending in payment. Pool memberships are also available at this time.
