Homeschoolers at Minnewaska presents, ‘Eyes to the sky, raptors and vultures’

Posted

In this homeschool program, 1-3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, the group will observe birds of prey and scavengers, both up-close and from afar to discuss their roles in the ecosystem, from carnivores at the top of the food chain, to vultures’ equally valuable job as nature’s clean-up crew. After the lesson, everyone will walk up to a view on the east side of Lake Minnewaska to look for large groups of migrating hawks and soaring vultures, using binoculars. This program is recommended for children between the ages of seven to twelve years old, accompanied by a parent or guardian over the age of 18. Well-behaved younger siblings are always welcome. Meet at the Lake Minnewaska Visitor Center, 5281 Route 44/55, Kerhonkson. Preregistration is required, call 845-255-0752.
