Data shows that one of the most impactful things that drives voters to the polls are personalized handwritten postcards mailed to their home. Additionally, sitting around a table with new and old friends and neighbors writing and stamping postcards is by far one of the most feel-good, simple ways to build community and support democracy! And while enjoying some nice food and drink always adds to the event! Help get out the vote, noon-2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at Lydia’s Café, 7 Old Route 209, Stone Ridge. There is a suggested donation of $10 per person to help cover the cost of postage and stamps. Complimentary beverages will be served, plus great food for purchase. Participants will be writing to both local and swing state voters to remind them what's at stake this election! Marbletown Democratic Committee will bring all the supplies!
Postcard Monday’s at the Marbletown Town Hall/Municipal Center will also be held, 6-8 p.m. Mondays, Sept. 9-Oct. 21, in Room M-15, at 1921 Lucas Avenue Ext., Cottekill. Drop by even for just a half hour, as every little bit helps. Note that on Sept. 16 and Oct. 21, postcard writing is only for one hour from 6-7 p.m. given the Marbletown Democratic Committee meeting starts there at 7 p.m. which all are welcome to join. At the next MDC meeting, 7-8:30 p.m. Sept. 16, the agenda will include introductions, treasurers report, Get out the vote efforts for the fall, and the fall garden party, 3-5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28 event updates.
