Sue passed after a long illness with her daughter by her side in the early morning hours of May 2nd. Born in West Orange NJ, she was predeceased by her husband Robert Scheck. Sue’s first job was working at her grandmother’s tavern, making sandwiches for factory workers. After high school Sue worked at Bell Telephone as an operator. Once relocated in Ulster County, Sue raised four children and worked at various jobs “to make ends meet”. She enjoyed crafting, canning and spending time with family. Sue also worked at IBM for many years, ending that career in Essex Junction VT. The family has many memories of great times spent boating on Lake Champlain, snowmobiling throughout northern Vermont and vacationing on Cape Cod. Sue and her husband spent retirement years traveling to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, golfing and riding Bob’s Honda Goldwing Motorcycle. Sue loved being with her family and friends and was a jigsaw puzzle and board game expert. Sue is survived by her daughter Laurel Sweeney of High Falls (Timothy), son Robert Scheck of Colchester VT (Tina), son Richard Scheck of Monroe NY (Ellen) and son Michael Scheck of Colchester VT (Crissy) as well as grandchildren Jessica D’Alessandro (Kevin), Sean Sweeney, Ashley Scheck, Robert Scheck, Megan Scheck and Devin Scheck, along with great grandchildren Hudson D’Alessandro and Paige D’Alessandro. The family would like to thank Maple Ridge Lodge and Bayada Hospice for all their care during Sue’s illness. Arrangements will be private at the convenience of the family.
