A charming romantic comedy released in 1940, “The Shop around the Corner,” directed by Ernst Lubitsch is set in a quaint Budapest gift shop and stars James Stewart and Margaret Sullavan as two employees who are unaware that they are secretly corresponding with each other through letters, having developed an anonymous romantic connection. Their workplace rivalry adds a layer of comedic tension, as they often clash in person while being completely smitten with each other in writing. Come see this wonderfully comedic and romantic film on the big screen, 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, at the Rosendale Theatre, 408 Main St., Rosendale. Admission is $10/$6 members.
