Writer Gail Straub and artist Kate McGloughlin share how they fell under the spell of the Hudson Valley, and how it affects not only their craft, but also their spiritual lives, and they reflect on their connection to the land as many different things – muse, strength, prayer, and humanity, at the Woodstock Book Fest, 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 24, at the Kleinert/James Center, 34 Tinker St., Woodstock. Straub, who co-directs the Empowerment Institute, a school for transformative social change, will discuss her new book, “The Ashokan Way: Landscape’s Path Into Consciousness,” and McGloughlin, president of The Woodstock School of Art, where she also teaches landscape painting and printmaking, will explore her journey creating the multimedia exhibition, “Requiem for the Ashokan: The Story Told in Landscape.” For more information, visit woodstockbookfest.com.
