Rondout Valley High School (RVHS) will be hosting its Eighth Annual Plant Sale, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, May 11 and 12, in the school’s greenhouse, on the high school campus on 3rd Street off Kyserike Road in Accord.
Each year, RVHS students work in an interdisciplinary environment in the school's greenhouse preparing for this popular community event. Among the many helping hands over the years have been School to Work students, Environmental Club and National Honor Society members, WISE participants, and students enrolled in a wide range of classes.
The students utilize their knowledge of science, math, history, the arts, and agriculture to provide valuable products for their community. At the same time, they are learning important life skills like record-keeping and how to run a small business.
Among the many plants that will be available for purchase are tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, flowers, and aromatic herbs. Individual pots will be one for $3 or two for $5 and four-pack containers will range from $3-$5. Four-pack containers of flowers will be $5 each. Cash or checks will be accepted at the event.
