, who will perform at the Rail Trail Café, 310 River Road Extension, 1 mile south of Rosendale, off Springtown Road, loves the location because it evokes memories of the music and dance festivals that many of them attended in Greece, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Serbia, Romania and Turkey. “Greek Night” began as an informal get together at Laura Wilson and Sean Crimmins’ house to play the music of Eastern Europe that the members of the group learned at various workshops and while traveling in the Balkans. While the name is not quite accurate and should really be called “Balkan Music Night,” the group agreed that “Greek Night” sounds more fun, so it remains. Their 4 p.m. Sunday, May 20 performance at the Café will feature lively tunes in odd meters with unusual scales made for dancing and celebration. Dances will be taught and all are welcome to join in. Other upcoming performances at the café include: Nick Collins, 1 p.m., and Levanta at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 26; Ami Madeleine, 1 p.m., and M’Bollo: Dance at 5 p.m. Sunday, May 27; Madeleine Grace, 1 p.m. May 28; and the Cloudbrakers and Red Feather Singers, 6 p.m. Friday, June 1.
