Musician, spiritualist and humanitarian George Harrison died in 2001; one year later, music industry giants gathered on Nov. 29, 2002, in London’s famed Royal Albert Hall for a one-night-only concert to remember this iconic man in words and music. The result is “Concert for George,” an all-star musical extravaganza and expression of love. The film will screen at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 18, and 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, at the Rosendale Theatre, 408 Main St., Rosendale. The momentous evening featured George’s songs, and music he loved, performed by a legendary lineup that included Eric Clapton, fellow Beatles Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, Traveling Wilbury and ELO member Jeff Lynne, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Beatles accompanist and funk legend Billy Preston, Joe Brown, Sam Brown, Harrison’s son Dhani, Squeeze alumnus Jools Holland, the comic troupe Monty Python, Ravi and Anoushka Shankar, and more. The concert was organized by Harrison’s widow, Olivia Harrison, and Eric Clapton. The concert film was directed by David Leland. George Harrison would have marked his 75th birthday this past Feb. 25. “Concert for George” marks the 37th film in the Music Fan Film Series, the unique curated film and music lovers’ program.
