Join Cornell Cooperative Extension of Ulster County for a class taking care of small ruminants, 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, at the CCEUC Education Center, 232 Plaza Road (Hannaford Plaza) in Kingston. Jason Detzel, CCEUC’s livestock educator, will teach the basics of feeding and watering needs, best practices, animal health and management, weather and predator concerns, biosecurity and parasite control, marketing your products, and fencing needs. Sheep and goats can provide meat, fiber and friendship. Whether starting out with 4-H animals, clearing some brush from the backyard, or selling animals for fiber, meat, or stock, this class will cover all the basics.  Walk-ins are welcome, but space is limited. Registration is $20/person or only $10 for enrollees of the CCEUC Agriculture Program. Children 12 and under are free to attend with an adult.  For more information contact Carrie at 340-3990, ext. 311, or email cad266@cornell.edu.
