The Rosendale Street Festival Committee has announced that planning is in full swing for the Rosendale Street Festival, a family-friendly, not-for-profit grassroots organization that was started in 1978 to showcase local talent and to celebrate the birthday of Rosendale icon, Uncle Willy. Today, the Rosendale Street Fest continues this tradition and has evolved into a two-day event that closes Main Street and boasts six stages, over 80 bands, over 100 of the best vendors in the Hudson Valley, and activities for kids. Street Fest is an entirely volunteer-run event, and proceeds go to supporting the Kingston, New Paltz, and Rondout Valley School District music departments. There are a variety of volunteer opportunities available during the two-day event, and volunteers are always needed. For a schedule and more information about volunteering, write to rsf.volunteering@gmail.com. The vendor committee is also accepting applications at rosendalestreetfestival.org/apply. This year’s festival is made possible by the generous sponsorship of local businesses including Fifth Lake Hudson Valley, the Mid-Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union, Markertek, Brian Hommel Home Improvement, and Lia Honda. The festival is actively looking for more businesses to sponsor the event. Anyone interested can reach out to rsf.sponsor@gmail.com. “The festival exists because of the amazing committee, the musicians who volunteer their time and talent, and our sponsors. Due to this support, we envision a fabulous Street Fest this summer,” said Co-Chair Carrie Wykoff. The 2024 Rosendale Street Festival is slated to take place on Saturday and Sunday, July 20 and 21 on Main Street, Rosendale. Rosendale community members are welcome to bring any questions to an information session, 6:30 p.m. June 24, at Mountain Stage in Willow Kiln Park, 5 Hardenburgh Lane, Rosendale.
