Creativity Walk to Echo Rock at Minnewaska

Bring a journal or a sketchbook and any other art materials to comfortably carry, 9:30 a.m.¬-noon Sunday, June 23 for a three-mile walk to the scenic Echo Rock with Josh Grosse, Student Conservation Association/AmeriCorps Environmental Educator. Along the way, the group will discuss notable artists, photographers, and writers who have been inspired by the Shawangunk Ridge’s myriad beauties and wonders. Participants will talk about basic artistic concepts like composition and color theory and do a practice exercise or two to gain hands-on experience with these principles. After reaching Echo Rock, everyone will enjoy soaking in the panoramic view that boasts exciting geological formations, a ravine filled with old growth trees and a beaver pond, and the bright green foliage of early summer and take some time to create their own artwork before making the return trip to the Visitor Center. Some art supplies will be offered by Minnewaska, but all are welcome to bring their own. Meet at the Lake Minnewaska Visitor Center, 5281 Route 44/55, Kerhonkson. High Peter’s Kill and Awosting Falls Loop hike at Minnewaska

Come explore the picturesque High Peter’s Kill Footpath with Josh Grosse, Student Conservation Association/AmeriCorps Environmental Educator, 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 25 on this approximately four-and-a-half-mile hike which does include rocky, narrow and steep sections of trail that may be challenging for some. Participants should bring enough water and food for the outing and wear proper hiking shoes. Meet in the Lower Parking Area. Mindfulness woods walk series with Jane Dobson at Minnewaska

Begin the day with peace of mind when joining Jane Dobson with Mind the Forest guides

9:30-11:30 a.m. Friday, June 28 for a meditative walk. Inspired by the Japanese practice of Forest Bathing, this guided experience is more of a saunter than a hike or exercise. This type of mindful nature connection brings a host of mental and physical health benefits, including reduced levels of our stress hormone cortisol, reduced anxiety and improved mood, focus and sleep. The free program is open to participants over the age of 16 years old, accompanied by a parent or guardian over the age of 18 years old. Millbrook Mountain hike at Minnewaska

Join Nick Martin, Park Educator, 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 29 for an approximately five-mile hike to Millbrook Mountain and back along the Lake Minnewaska Carriage Road, Millbrook Mountain Footpath, and Millbrook Mountain Carriage Road. The footpath sections of this hike include uneven, rocky terrain, a stream crossing, wet areas, and other challenges that some might find difficult. All participants should come prepared with appropriate footwear and clothing and enough food and water to sustain themselves for the duration of the outing. Reflections at Rainbow Falls at Minnewaska

Join Josh Grosse, Student Conservation Association/AmeriCorps Environmental Educator, 9:30 a.m.- 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 30 for a peaceful, six-mile hike to Rainbow Falls. Participants will meet at the Lower Parking Area, where they will select a nature themed meditation card, setting a mindful intention for the journey. Some sections of trail may be muddy and wet. Wear hiking boots and bring plenty of food and water. Also bring a journal and writing utensil to assist in the reflections. Meet at the Lower Parking Area.
