Set against the backdrop of the American Old West, the story revolves around a mysterious stranger with a harmonica (Charles Bronson), a notorious outlaw (Jason Robards) and recent widow Jill McBain (Claudia Cardinale). These characters become intertwined in a tale of greed, revenge, and justice as they confront a murderous land grabber (Henry Fonda).
